"Mom, can you give me money," my daughter asked. "No, I will show you how," I responded. "I will invest in you," I continued.

I was working when my elementary daughter asked me this question. And, she just looked at me with her big eyes at my answer.
I got up and we left and went to the store. "I will invest in you $1 plus tax on you," I told her. We went to the gum aisle and there was a bag of 100 pieces of gum in a package for $1 plus tax it was $1.07.
When we got home, we calculated the cost per gum; $1.07 divided by 100 = .0107 per gum.
She went to school and sold them to her friends for 10 cents each. She made $10.00. I mentioned to her the 40% 60% rule. She could spend or save 40% which would be $4 and the 60% she would need to invest in obtaining more inventory to sell.
It was wonderful seeing my little entrepreneur adding variety to her offerings to her friends.
I could have easily given her the money. I believe in showing people to fish than just giving them the fish,
And, the story has now been shared with my granddaughter.
Blessings,
